The Bethlehem Area Public Library is a great place to find the books, interactive media, free programs, and electronic resources that help develop reading skills, foster a life-long love of learning and that can give every child Room to Grow. Take advantage of all the Library offers and visit frequently.

Young Readers & Early Literacy
One of the simplest pleasures in life is sharing a story with a child. The exchange of words and ideas as you savor each page and picture creates a memorable moment for adult and child alike. More importantly, reading aloud builds language skills, nurtures young imaginations and lays the foundation for future success in school and in life.
What Parents Can Do
Early literacy begins at birth, but parents can start reading aloud with a child at any time and at any age. When you read together, you invest in your child’s sense of self-worth and their ability to relate the world around them. And your Library is here to help, providing parents with the framework and resources to nurture a child’s reading and information literacy skills. |
