Bethlehem Area Public Library Presents Summer at Your Library: Tails and Tales for Summer 2021

Read, learn, attend, win! Summer programs for patrons of all ages are back at the Bethlehem Area Public Library running from Saturday, June 12 to Saturday, August 14, 2021. This year’s theme is “Tails and Tales” and will entail both virtual and in-person events for patrons to attend.

“Summer is the most exciting time of year at the library and this year is twice as exciting,” said Executive Director Josh Berk. “We can’t wait to see students and readers of all ages back at the library checking out books and having fun!”

For kids, young adults, and families, just a few exciting events include an Off the Page writing program, a Harry Potter Family Fun Night, a visit from wild animals with Eyes of the Wild, Pokémon Night, Star Wars: Jedi Academy Training, Read to Dogs, Storytime at SouthSide Farmers Market, Tails and Tales Family Bingo, and more!

“All of our sites have wonderful programs whether virtual or in-person, but the one I’m really excited about this summer is our Doodling Workshop with Martha Lubow at our location in Bethlehem Township at the Coolidge Building,” Regina Kochmaruk, Head of the Outreach Department, said. “Her workshop is fun, engaging, and relaxing — and no matter what age, you will love what you create!”

Edana Hoy, Head of Youth Services at the Main Library, is also excited for all that’s to come this summer. “We can’t wait to see all of our friends again. The Youth Services staff has so many events planned for every age, preschool through grade 12, plus awesome family events.”

Adults will also get to have some summer fun thanks to two contests with great prizes! Enter the Summer Reading Raffle and you could win a $25 gift card to a local business. For BAPL’s Summer Writing Contest, share a piece of writing about an animal that has played an important role in your life and you’ll have the chance to win a Lenovo Tablet, a Kindle Fire, or a Barnes and Noble gift card.

“We here at Adult Services at Main are excited to see what this year’s summer programming brings,” said Matthew Rothfuss, Head of Adult Services. “We have a variety of programs and contests for adults throughout the summer as we continue to open up more post-pandemic. From film discussions to virtual Yoga to writing competitions we hope you’ll join us this summer!”
