New Hours at Main Library (9am opening)

Bethlehem Main Library Expands Hours

Starting on March 4, the Bethlehem Area Public Library’s Main Library will have new hours. On Mondays through Fridays, the Library (11 W. Church St.) will open at 9:00 am rather than 10:00 am. Saturday hours will remain the same as they have been (10-5).

“After many years of flat or declining budgets, we were thrilled to receive an increase in our funding this year, and we’re grateful to our library board and the municipalities we serve for making this possible” said BAPL Executive Director Josh Berk. “We have also been very fortunate to benefit from the generosity of our community. The number of donations — big and small — continues to rise.”

Berk explained that in addition to improvements to the library buildings, increasing hours was a top priority. He noted “the extra hour in the morning will allow us to do more children’s programming, circulate more books, and meet the needs of our patrons.” He noted that there is a long line of people waiting to get at ten o’clock most days so the library will no doubt be busy that first hour.

“The library isn’t back to its full pre-recession schedule when it was open until 9:00pm most nights,” Berk said. “We hope the strong support of the library will continue and we can expand hours and services even more in the future.”

New BAPL Main Library Hours as of March 4, 2019:

Mon. – Wed. 9AM – 8PM

Thurs. & Fri. 9AM – 6PM

Sat. 10AM – 5PM
