Bethlehem Area Public Library Advocacy and Outreach Committee Minutes Monday February 25, 2019 Attending: Joyce Hinnefeld, Rayah Levy, Malissa Davis, Annamarie Jordan, Josh Berk, Kate Racculia Community Outreach Discussion Brainstormed various types of ongoing programs that could be offered to senior life communities and facilities (other than general BAPL informational sessions), including: Booking existing library programs/speakers at offsite locations Geoff Gehman’s Bethlehem Steel Baseball presentation Lehigh University doctoral candidate talks Musicians -- from LV Charter HS for the Arts, BAPL musicians Moravian Academy’s storyshare program, connecting HS seniors with individuals in senior life facilities (under teacher Catherine Moore) Genealogy, ancestry.com, BAPL WWII database presentations LV Engaged Humanities Consortium/4-part Oral History progressive series, including: Initial genealogy/ancestry and WWII archive presentation Writing/memoir workshop Storytelling/storysharing workshop Oral history ‘open mic’ to be recorded and documented by BAPL Pilot program goals: hold events quarterly, and develop a program that can be easily scaled/adapted to other organizations and facilities. Could Teen Advisory Board be involved? Program title: Library Without Borders/BAPL Without Borders Action Items Rayah will talk to Regina to coordinate outreach to Country Meadow for a pilot program; Rayah will also reach out to Bridle Path. Malissa made initial contact with John P. at Country Meadows, who was very receptive to BAPL programming. Kate will develop programmatic interest survey that can be distributed to facilities. Josh will compile list of senior life facilities, including Country Meadows, Bridle Path, Lutheran Manor, Traditions of (etc). All will continue to distribute fliers and brochures, and to talk up BAPL programs! Next meeting: Monday March 25, 2019 @ 1 pm, Main Library - Laros Room
