Job Openings at BAPL

The Bethlehem Area Public Library is reopening the search for a part-time Technician at our South Side Branch. The position is 26 hours per week and pay is $17.37 per hour. PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal, and FBI Fingerprint clearances are required. Working one night per week and every other Saturday is required. Full job description is attached.

  1. Bachelor’s degree or 2 years college education plus one year library experience
  2. Ability to work well with the public
  3. Reference skills, with proficiency in internet and online database searching
  4. Proficiency with the use of computers
  5. Bilingual with fluency in Spanish and English, verbal and written, preferred but not required
  6. Clerical skills
  7. Comfort with planning and hosting library events for children and adults
  8. Ability to listen and clearly communicate with patrons in person, on the telephone, and via email


The Technician’s responsibilities at the Branch include general library tasks, reference duties (including online research,) and other special projects as assigned by the Branch Manager.


  1. Provides reference and reader’s advisory assistance to patrons
  2. Provides basic assistance to patrons using the internet and the library e-resources, as needed
  3. Promotes library services to the community through tasks such as creating library flyers and posting on social media platforms
  4. Performs general duties at the circulation desk
  5. Assist Adult Services and Youth Services Technicians with events
  6. Other duties as assigned by supervisor
