Part-time Branch Technician
The Bethlehem Area Public Library has an opening for a part-time Branch Technician at our South Side Branch (400 Webster St., Bethlehem, PA 18015). The position is 29 hours per week and pay is $20 per hour. PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal, and FBI Fingerprint clearances are required. Working one night per week and every other Saturday is required. - Bachelor’s degree or 2 years college education plus one year library experience

JOB SUMMARY
The Branch Technician’s responsibilities include general library tasks, reference duties (including online research,) and other special projects as assigned by the Branch Manager.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides reference and reader’s advisory assistance to patrons
- Provides basic assistance to patrons using the internet and the library e-resources, as needed
- Promotes library services to the community through tasks such as creating library flyers and posting on social media platforms
- Performs general duties at the circulation desk
- Assist Adult Services and Youth Services Technicians with events
- Manages the Branch Book Sale, including sorting book donations and hosting periodic sale events

Job Summary
The Youth Services Clerk is responsible for returning library material to its proper shelf location, inspecting materials for damage, monitoring new books, and assisting with various tasks of the Youth Services Department.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Shelving library materials
- Assisting at the service desk with all circulation duties, including registration of patrons
- Shelf reading
- Keeping shelves in orderly condition
- Assisting patrons
- Labeling new books and putting them on appropriate shelves
- Rotating new books on and off the new book shelf
- Rotating children and teen DVD collection for Bookmobile on a regular basis
- Inspecting spoken word media and print materials for damage and processing these items
- Adding damaged item charges to patron records
- Rotating seasonal books from storage area
- Making craft samples and preparing pieces for projects
- Creating displays of titles, as needed

Qualifications
- Knowledge of modern building cleaning methods, materials, and ability to operate cleaning equipment
- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to perform manual labor, move heavy loads, and climb ladders
- Possession of current driver’s license
Job Summary
The Custodian assists the Buildings Supervisor in cleaning, maintenance, general repairs, and security at the Main and South Side buildings, and with maintenance of library vehicles. The position consists of second shift work and rotating holidays and weekends. Some flexibility with schedule is preferred.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Janitorial duties at both buildings, mostly at Main Library
- Buildings maintenance
- Buildings security
- Vehicle maintenance
- Rotation of emptying book drops at both libraries on holidays and weekends
- Snow removal at both libraries, when needed
- May substitute as delivery driver to Branch and district libraries
- May participate in various events held by the library: assistance with setup, take-down, and maintenance
- Other duties as assigned by the Buildings Supervisor or Assistant Director
