Be A Part of BAPL History! (Help us Renovate the first floor)

When the Main Library at City Center opened in 1967, it was the bee’s knees. There were towering bookshelves, large oak reading tables, and more reference books than you could shake a stick at. But it’s time to make some changes, freshen up the place, and reflect the needs of a 21st century library. We’ll still keep the charm of the mid-century building we all love, but we will add high-tech shared workspaces for Zoom calls and teleconferences. We’ll have accessible lower shelves, add comfortable
reading nooks, and construct a modern computer lab, as well as new carpet, paint, and window treatments throughout the first
floor. But we need your help!

Make a donation to the 2023 Capital Campaign to fund renovations at the Main Library!

What is a “learning commons?” These are glass enclosed private meeting rooms for individual or small group study to be located on the library’s first floor. See this page to see how they work at the Reading, PA Public Library.
