BAPL Outreach

Our library actively “reaches out” to our community residents, daycares, schools, businesses, and organizations to promote the mission of the library and all of its wonderful programs, services, and resources.

Children’s Storytimes

Sharing stories and books with children is both a natural and essential part of a preschool’s early-literacy curriculum. Our experienced Youth Services Outreach Librarian offers fun and engaging storytimes to daycares and preschools throughout our service area. Each program is typically 30-45 minutes in length, and can be thematically structured to fit the needs of the teachers and children.

Parent Engagement / Family Events at Schools

For your next parent workshop or family-fun event, consider inviting the library to be a part of your efforts in reaching out to parents! Literacy research emphasizes that children’s reading and writing skills begin in the home. Helping parents understand the importance of reading aloud to young children and supporting life-long learning is what we’re all about! We can offer library card registration, facilitate fun literacy-related activities, or present demonstrations on how to use the library’s many online resources for reading, research, education, and personal and professional growth.

Summer Reading Club Presentations

One of our highlights – Summer Reading Club presentations to our local elementary schools! The purpose of the library’s summer reading club is to ensure that children continue to read over the summer months by offering incentives, prizes, and free library programming. The presentations are fun and informative and can be customized to fit the school’s preferences, from brief classroom visits to longer school assemblies. So don’t turn away the mad scientist, private eye, or pirate captain at the door…it just might be your friendly librarian fancying a chat about summer reading.

Community Events

We welcome the opportunity to proudly present our public library at your community event! This is a great way for your organization or business to show that you value and support the public library. We have appeared at the Cops ‘N’ Kids Celebration of Reading, PEEPS Fest, college fairs, community fairs, farmer’s markets (and more) with information tables, crafts, activities and games. The bookmobile may also be available dependent upon time and location of event.

Teacher Support

Our outreach librarian welcomes the opportunity to work collaboratively throughout the year with teachers and librarians to reinforce the importance of reading for learning and for pleasure. We strive to provide a collection of materials and information resources for both teachers and students to excel academically in school and to enjoy reading. With the Bethlehem Area Public Library Card for Business, BASD teachers may request materials from the library’s collection for classroom use.

Questions? Comments?

We strive to be a welcoming place for healthy child development, parent and community involvement, and life-long literacy beginning at birth. Let us hear from you if you have any questions or comments about BAPL and its services.
