Ghost Stories Before Christmas

In the spirit of Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas, we are pleased to announce the winners of BAPL’s first Ghost Story Writing Contest – yes, after Christmas!

Liberty High School student, Isabella Morales (at right), won First Place for her story entitled “A Bizarre Halloween.” Andrea Girardot’s story “Hey, Yasuko” was the winner in the 10-12 year-old category, and finally “The Legend of Hope Mist,” submitted by Kai Thomas, won in the youngest category.

The contest was advertised online throughout October, and while we had hoped for more submissions, we are pleased that we did indeed receive stories to read.  We are looking forward to offering this contest next fall, keeping in mind the lessons learned while administering a writing contest. To all the young writers – keep reading, imagining…and WRITING!
