Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Library are civic-minded Library patrons who use proceeds from fundraising activities and annual dues to underwrite BAPL’s innovative programs for all ages, and support the library’s growth.

If you’d like to renew your Friends membership for 2020, good through the end of 2021–or if you’d like to become a Friend for the first time–donate securely to the Friends of the Library online or complete the Donation Form to the right and return it to the Main Library.

Contact the Friends today by emailing friends@bapl.org.

About the Organization

Without the Friends, BAPL’s calendar of exciting and enriching events, story times, and educational and cultural series wouldn’t be possible! Friends of the Library provides the funding for the majority of BAPL’s programs.

Friends sponsor science, nature, engineering and other educational programs for children. Each year they contribute funds for incentive materials used in summer reading and activity programs. Friends help underwrite author visits, cultural programs, writing workshops, and health and fitness classes for adults.

In addition to the great satisfaction that comes with helping to strengthen the Library and support its programming, members of the Friends enjoy:

  • a 10% discount on all purchases made at BAPL book sales, and
  • a pass, available at the front desk, for free admission for up to a family of four at the Allentown Art Museum.
